Dakshayani Bhat, a graduate from NINASAM(Heggodu) has been working in the field of Kannada Theatre from past 8 years and is one of the famous Directors at present.She is known for her innovative styles of movements and costume designing.She is also known for selecting and performing unique set of plays and has experience in conducting workshops,directing plays and acting all over Karnataka.
In the year 1999,she got a diploma degree in theatre arts from the Prestigious institute NINASAM(Heggodu).She was part of the NINASAM Tirugata for the next year and acted in almost 20 plays in this period.She completed her Bachelor's degree from Kuvempu University and a Master's degree from B'lore University in Theatre arts and has acted in almost 50 plays in total.Some of them include Smashana Kurukshetra, Ahalye, KingLear, Galileo, Sayo aata, Abhijnana Shakuntala, Prathima, Boot Polish, Mouni, Gokula Nirgamana, Suyodhana.
Apart from acting,she has the credit of directing 44 successive plays and conducting workshops all over Karnataka.She was one of the 10 directors who were selected to perform at the 'Young Director's Festival' organized by 'Sangeeta Nataka Academy' and is the Recipent of 'Republic Day Award' by Government of Karnataka in 2005 for excellent service rendered in the field of Theatre.She has been the director for "DRUSHYA" from past 3 years and has also worked with other teams like Prayogaranga, Aneka.Some of the directed plays include 'A Mid Summer Night's Dream', 'Olleyadu Olleyadu' , 'Pampanige Bidda Kanasugalu,' 'Jalastamba', 'Kanchipurada Makkalu', 'Kolli', 'Gajipurada Hajama', 'Ploutos,' 'Devara Hesaralli,' 'Kamadhenu', 'Kambli seve', 'Swapnavasavadatta'.
Theatre is not just acting or directing,it is the all round development in the field and the perfect example for this is Dakshayani Bhat.Apart from acting and directing,she is an excellent costume designer and won best design for Gajipurada Hajama which was performed a few years back in many State Level competitions.She has also shown her skills in Music composition for plays like 'Ploutos' and 'Swapnavasavadatta'.
